Tough Christmas expected for many

The head of the Council of Christian Social Services says many Maori will face a tough Christmas.

With 100,000 Maori out of work, Trevor McGlinchey says food banks and other social services are stretched to the limit trying to help with basics.

He told Waatea News this Christmas will be hardest for a number of years because of the recession and it will take a real community effort to put something special on the table for Christmas.
