A man who went on the run for 15 weeks after a fatal Auckland shooting has appeared in court charged with murder.
On 3 August, two people on Queen Street were shot. One of them died the following day.
The police say the 24-year-old accused handed himself in at the city's central police station on Thursday morning.
He briefly appeared in the Auckland District Court via video link charged with murder and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He has been granted interim name suppression until he appears next in the High Court in Auckland next month.
Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Bolton earlier said further charges could not be ruled out.
