Maori Television chief executive Paora Maxwell says a proposed restructure of the company aims to include the audience to interact with the company to a greater extent.
The broadcaster has been consulting staff over the past fortnight and briefed them yesterday on its proposal.
It includes the creation of six new roles, including three management positions.
Five roles have been cut; three of that staff have been reappointed to other positions and two will lose their jobs.
Mr Maxwell said the new structure would allow the company to respond to an audience desire for content on demand and on different media devices.
Maori Television would explore new sources of revenue in sponsorship and advertising as part of the restructure, he said.
