The Cook Islands Tourism Corporation has launched into major post-cyclone recovery programmes which will involve foreign media and overseas travel agents from around the globe.

The chief executive officer Chris Wong has told the Cook Islands News that the initiatives include a number of media and travel trade visitation programmes to the country.

Mr Wong says the corporation has received very good feedback and positive media exposure in New Zealand, Australia and most recently the United States and Canada.

He says a number of US and Canadian travel trade media and travel agents are visiting.

Next month, Mr Wong will welcome a media team from the United Kingdom.

In May, the corporation will also play host to around 130 travel agents from Australia and New Zealand.

Mr Wong and the tourism minister, Piho Rua, have recently attended the annual Pacific Asia Travel Association board of directors' meeting and annual conference in Macau.
