Around 1am this morning the first lot of athletes arrived home from Berlin.

They've been representing Aotearoa at The Special Olympics World Summer Games.

These games have been our most successful yet in terms of the medal count!

A record number of thirty-nine New Zealand athletes competed, and we came away with 5 gold, 17 silver, and 12 bronze medals.

Shanae Dean from Counties Manukau was part of the bowling team who won bronze, she speaks to Jesse.
