Restaurant Brands buys Carls Jr stores

14:10 pm on 5 November 2014

Restaurant Brands has bought the seven Carls Jr stores in Auckland it does not already own for $10.5 million, and has become the master franchisee in New Zealand for the brand.

Previously, the brand owner - United States-based CKE - had been acting as the master franchisee.

The purchase brought the number of Carls Jr stores owned by Restaurant Brands to 16.

Restaurant Brands' chief executive Russel Creedy said his company and the other franchisee, Forsgren, had already been co-operating closely and meeting weekly.

"I think this is a natural progression to rationalise the deal-management channels that we have going. I think it is good for the brand, having consolidated under one management stream".
