Thick fog caused the cancellation of a number flights in and out of Christchurch and Nelson.
Flights from Christchurch to Auckland and Dunedin, and Nelson to Christchurch and Auckland were cancelled this morning, an Air New Zealand spokesperson said.
The airline said it was rebooking passengers and offering flexibility to change travel to a later time or date.
The airline said there would be no further cancellations, but delays were still likely, and people should check for updated flight times.
MetService meteorologist Andrew James said the fog around Christchurch and north of Bank Peninsula forecast to lift mid-morning.
