The Commonwealth of Northern Marianas Governor Benigno Fitial has signed into law a bill that makes it mandatory for government agencies to award contracts of up to US$500,000 to businesses owned by U.S. citizens.
The new law refers to contracts for capital improvements, public works, or the procurement of goods or services.
The winner must possess a valid business license for three consecutive years prior to submitting a bid, and their headquarters located in the CNMI.
