The Black Caps have beaten Bangladesh by 27 runs in the fifth and final T20 international in Dhaka.
Bangladesh took the series 3-2.
Latham says it was a clinical performance by his side.
"Over the past four games we've been there or there abouts and being pretty close to piecing it all together but I think they way were able to go out their today and piece it together and learn from the previous games was outstanding and it's certainly nice to finish the series on a high," Latham said.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first New Zealand made 161 for five with captain Tom Latham scoring an unbeaten half century.
The home side was then restricted to 134 for eight.
The tourists got through to 58 before losing their first wicket with Rachin Ravindra dismissed for 17, while fellow opener Finn Allen went on to make 41 off 21 balls.
Latham was unbeaten 50 off 37 balls , while Henry Nicholls made 20 and Cole McConchie 17.
In reply, Bangladesh's innings was held together by an unbeaten 49 from Afif Hossain and captain Mahmudullah who scored 23.
Spinner Ajaz Patel took two wickets for 21 runs from his four overs, while Scott Kuggeleijn also took two wickets and Cole McConchie, Jacob Duffy, Ben Sears and Rachin Ravindra got one each.
Going into this tour Latham hadn't played a T20 international in four years, but finished the series with an average of 53.
"Haven't had a lot of T20 cricket for New Zealand or Canterbury over the last couple of years so for me it was just about trying to find a way in conditions that are so foreign to us and probably harder than we expected so for me it was just about trying to do your role as best you can and so it was to be able to do that."
The New Zealand squad now flies to Pakistan to play three ODI's and five T20 internationals.
