No tsunami warnings for US territories in the Pacific following quake

The Tsunami warning centre says the magnitude 8.1 earthquake in the Alaska Peninsula poses no tsunami threat to US territories in the Pacific.

The strong quake was located about 91 kilometers east southeast of Perryville, Alaska, at a depth of 46.7 km.

The warning centre, based in Hawai'i, said that following recent assessments, it found there is no tsunami threat to American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas and Guam.

New Zealand's Civil Defence said it's not expecting any coastal inundation in New Zealand from the massive magnitude 8.1 earthquake this eveing, but is still assessing the quake.
