The President of American Samoa's Senate, Lolo M. Moliga, has announced his candidacy for the territory's governorship.

Lolo says he has not yet selected a running mate for lieutenant governor but he has appointed a special group to look at the possible nine individuals he has in mind and recommend the top three best running mates.

The only other candidate in the gubernatorial race at this stage is Afoa Moega Lutu, with Velega Savali as running mate.

Governor Togiola Tulafono and Lt. Governor Ipulasi Aitofele Sunia have not yet indicated if they will seek re-election in November.
