National picks Bay of Plenty candidate

A Fonterra executive will be the National Party's candidate in the safe seat of Bay of Plenty at this year's election.

Todd Muller, group director for co-operative affairs at Fonterra, has also been general manager of Zespri.

He lives in Auckland but grew up in Bay of Plenty and says he will move back there.

Health Minister Tony Ryall, who has held the seat since 1996, is retiuring at this year's election.

He got 58 percent of the vote at the last election.
