A Tauranga household has been evacuated after a large slip this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the Moiri Place home in Maungatapu just before 4pm.
Debris from the slip did not enter the home, but its residents left as a precaution.
The Tauranga City Council said its engineers had been on site this evening.
A geotechnical assessment will be carried out tomorrow morning so investigators can check the damage in the daylight.
The council said nearby residents should evacuate if they see any further land movement.
Emergency services were also called to the scene.
Fire and Emergency said a fire truck from Greerton and another vehicle from Tauranga were on site to help the police response.
