An Armed Offenders Squad callout in Auckland did not result in the capture of a person suspected to be behind a series of violent offences.
St George's Road in Avondale was blocked off from about 11am onwards.
The person being sought by the police was not found when officers entered an address.
No shots were fired.
Police say their suspect has been offending in central and west Auckland over the past two weeks.
