The 60-year-old Australian musician pleaded guilty in the Tauranga District Court in April to charges of threatening to kill and having cannabis and methamphetamine.

He was to have been sentenced on 26 June, but his lawyer, Craig Tuck, said the date had been moved to 9 July.

Mr Tuck said he planned to ask for a discharge without conviction during sentencing.

He said the argument would be based on the consequences of a conviction for Rudd.
