A man who petitioned to scrap five year passports is pleased the Government will look at reverting to 10-year passports.
A parliamentary select committee has recommended the Government re-introduce 10-year passports, saying there is no evidence five-year passports have reduced fraud.
Internal Affairs Minister Peter Dunne said he will now seek advice from his Department about options for extending the validity period.
Kyle Lockwood submitted a petition last year to scrap five-year passports, which were introduced in 2005.
He said he was very happy with the committee's recommendations.
