The Public School System in the Northern Marianas says it has received $US1 million in disaster-response money from the Office of Insular Affairs in preparation for the upcoming school year.
The grant money will be used for school repairs in preparation for the 2019-2020 school year.
The Public School System needs to co-ordinate with the Federal Emergency Management Agency so that it can make permanent repairs to schools like stronger roofing, sturdier walls and general reinforcing.
Nearly seven months after Super Typhoon Yutu's onslaught in October, four public schools remain on double sessions with damaged schools relocated to other premises.
