11:13 am on 27 January 2014

A jet cargo freighter has crashed on Sunday in Solomon Islands while attempting to land at the Honiara International airport.

The Boeing 737-300F aircraft operated by Toll of Australia was on touch down at Henderson when its right side gave way, about 10:30am on Sunday.

All flights in and out of Honiara international airport were cancelled as a result.

An Air Niugini flight from Port Moresby into Honiara bound for Nadi, Fiji was cancelled.

Fairfax reports the Auckland-based Airworks Group confirmed the aircraft had lost its right undercarriage during landing.

An Airworks spokesman told Fairfax yesterday none of the three crew on board were injured in the incident and full investigations are in process.
