Samoa's government has increased the country's minimum wage by 30 percent.
Cabinet has approved an incremental increase from $WST2.30 per hour to $WST3.00 per hour, said a statement from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labour.
That means the new hourly wage is about $US1.13.
The new rate will come into effect on 1 January.
While some workers have welcomed the increase, others are saying it is still far too low considering the cost of living in Samoa.
