Homocide investigation launched after Kaikohe man with stab wounds dies

A homicide investigation has been launched after a man found with stab wounds at a Kaikohe property died yesterday.

Emergency services were called to a property on Mangakahia Road, south of the town, just after 9am on Saturday.

The injured man died at the scene, despite receiving medical treatment.

Detective Inspector Al Symonds said a person was in custody and officers were talking to several people who were at the property.

"Police would ask anyone who saw what happened, who has not yet spoken to police, to please get in touch."
