Samoa's elections commissioner says a provisional tally shows 76-thousand people have registered to vote in a general election at the end of next month.
Tanuvasa Isitolo Lemisio says 92-thousand people registered to vote in the last election in 2001, but he says this was inflated, with cases of people registering three or four times.
Tanuvasa says he expected a registration figure of 80-thousand this time round.
But he doesn't think the figure of 76-thousand will change upwards much after his staff complete final cross-checking of data with the electoral rolls tomorrow.
