Police said they received a report of a disorder on commercial premises on New North Road, Kingsland about 9.30pm yesterday.

A group of people had arrived at the bar and an altercation ensued in which weapons were reported to be involved, police said.

The fight lasted for a couple of minutes before one group left on foot down Mostyn Street towards Aitken Terrace, where a firearm was discharged, police said.

Shooters Saloon manager Shayne LaRosa said the offending group had about 20 people who were armed with bats and tried to force their way into the bar.

"They started throwing bottles into the bar area, and people inside retaliated so they started throwing bottles out, so all hell sort of broke loose, then the ones from inside ran out and chased them down the side road and then there were gunshots about 1500 metres away from us."

LaRosa said he had a gash on his head where he was hit by a cricket bat.

Police said no one was injured in the incident but they were making inquiries to find those responsible.
