The American golfer Webb Simpson has risen nine places to number five in the world rankings after winning the US Open championship on Monday in San Francisco.
The 26-year-old became the 15th straight different major championship winner with a one-stroke victory over the 2010 champion Graeme McDowell from Northern Ireland and fellow American Michael Thompson.
Simpson is also the ninth straight first-time major winner, the longest streak in PGA Tour history.
The top four in the rankings remain unchanged - Luke Donald, Rory McIlroy, Lee Westwood and Tiger Woods.
