There are 2780 new community cases of Covid-19 today, the Ministry of Health reports.
There are 336 people are in hospital, including six in ICU.
The seven-day rolling average of community case numbers today is 3061 - last Thursday it was 3928.
The seven-day rolling average of hospitalisations today is 416 - last Thursday it was 527.
There are now a total of 1845 deaths confirmed as attributable to Covid-19, either as the underlying cause of death or as a contributing factor. The figure remains unchanged since yesterday, 24 August.
However, there have been 20 deaths since yesterday where a cause of death is not available.
"Of the 20 people whose deaths we are reporting today: Five were from Northland, two were from Auckland region, four were from Waikato, two were from Taranaki, four were from MidCentral, three were from Canterbury," the ministry said.
"One was in their 30s, two were in their 60s, eight were in their 70s, six were in their 80s and three were aged over 90. Of these people, 13 were women and seven were men."
The seven-day rolling average increase in total deaths attributable to Covid-19 is now seven.
Yesterday, the ministry reported 3140 new community cases and four deaths of people with the virus.
