NZ womens cricketers beat Australia

The New Zealand women's cricket team has beaten Australia by four runs in a Twenty20 match in Brisbane.

New Zealand made 115 for nine, while Australia finished on 111 for 6.

Left-arm pace bowler Sian Ruck took two for 13 on debut sending Lauren Ebsary and Lisa Sthaleker back to the pavilion without scoring off successive deliveries, to have Australia reeling at three for seven in the fifth over.

The second and third matches will be played today and tomorrow, also in Brisbane.

The Twenty20 World Cup begins in England next week.
