Solomons mass vaccination and testing amid covid outvbreak

06:02 am on 27 January 2022

Health authorities in Solomon Islands are undertaking a mass Covid-19 vaccination and testing campaign amid a worsening outbreak of the virus.

On Tuesday the health minister Culwick Togamana announced the country's first two deaths from the virus with case numbers at 650 and climbing.

A four day lockdown is in force in the capital Honiara and suspected pockets of the virus are being investigated in the Malaita, Central and Western Provinces.

With me is a senior technical advisor to the ministry of health, Dr Yogesh Choudri, who is working with the team at the National Emergency Operations Centre.

Kia or Dr Choudhri with the announcement of the first two deaths has the response strategy changed?
