More than 100 offenders have been been deported to New Zealand from Australia since November, Justice Minister Amy Adams says.
Legislation setting up a monitoring regime for deported New Zealand criminals was passed under urgency late last year following tough new visa laws across the Tasman.
Ms Adams said 105 detainees had returned so far and about 70 percent were being supervised.
The new regime was working as intended and the most serious offenders were being supervised to ensure the public's safety and to help deportees reintegrate, she said.
