Police seek information about stabbing in Wellington on Sunday

Police are seeking information about a stabbing that took place on Courtney Place in Wellington in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A man who left a bar and had an altercation with a group of unknown people was stabbed at about 4.10am on Sunday.

He suffered a serious injury and today remained in Wellington Hospital in a stable condition, Detective Sergeant Grant Carroll said.

Police had reviewed the CCTV footage in the area which showed there was a woman who was filming the incident, he said.

"She is not involved in any way but we would like to speak with her as we believe she may be able to assist our investigation," Carroll said in a statement.

The woman or anyone who knew her should contact the police on 105 and quote file number 220925/5037, he said.
