Samoa's Minister of Prisons, Tialavea Tionisio Hunt, has been called on to resign over unresolved issues including the unlawful release of a convicted murderer to receive a chiefly title.

The member of parliament, Olo Vaai, told the Samoa Observer that if the minister can't fix the problems, then he should step down and let someone else get the job done.
He said he was still baffled why no-one from the Samoa Prisons and Correction Services had been charged for releasing Tagaloasa Filipaina to attend his matai title bestowal ceremony over the Christmas holidays.
Tagaloasa is the alleged leader of one of Samoa's biggest drug operations and has been refused parole five times.
Olo Vaai has also asked the Attorney General, Lemalu Hermann Retzlaff and the Police Commissioner, Fuiavaili'ili Egon Keil for their support.
The prison's minister earlier defended Tagaloasa's release saying he was a low risk prisoner.
