Twenty-eight families whose houses were destroyed by police personnel in Hobu Village in Morobe Province in Papua New Guinea have been given materials to rebuild the homes.

The Post Courier reported each family got 16 sheets of roofing iron, nine posts, material for walls, plywood for flooring, a hammer, a saw and a box of nails.
The funding has come from the National Gaming Control board and the Disaster and Emergency Services.
Nawaeb MP Kennedy Wenge blamed the destruction of the houses on two or three people.
He said Hobu was not known for petty crimes before but lately lawlessness has increased and he is urging those involved to stop.
There has been a strengthening of police resources in the area through the purchase of a new patrol vehicle.
