A search for a missing kayaker in the Firth of Thames continues today.
The kayaker who set out with the intention of fishing at the mussel farms was reported missing on Saturday night.
Police, who are leading the search, said they located a kayak with fishing gear around five kilometres east of Ōrere Point in the Hauraki Gulf.
Coastguard said it continued to support police with the search.
"Three Auckland Coastguard Air Patrol volunteers are in the sky at present undertaking a search in the Firth of Thames and will also undertake a shoreline search along the coast today." a spokesperson said.
