17:11 pm on 13 January 2017

Four people have been charged over a spate of rural burglaries near Invercargill over the Christmas period.

More than 10 farms were burgled, with frozen meat, electrical tools, and lawnmowers among the stolen items.

Detective Sergeant Grant Johnstone said two men, 37 and 24, have appeared in Invercargill District Court.

A 15-year-old boy and a 24-year-old woman have also been arrested.

Mr Johnston said police had recovered some of the stolen property, and further arrests were likely.
