One of the country's most controversial cases is being made into a television drama series.

Black Hands is about the murders of five members of the Bain family in their suburban Dunedin home in June 1994.
Production is underway with Joel Tobeck from Westside and Sons of Anarchy, playing father Robin Bain, Luanne Gordon from Interrogation playing his wife, Margaret Cullen and Richard Crouchley playing David Bain.
A statement says the drama will depict the years leading up to the murders through the eyes of the victims and the accused.
It will air on TVNZ later this year and is funded by New Zealand On Air.
David Bain spent 13 years in prison after being found guilty of murdering his parents and three of his siblings in Dunedin in 1994, however he was acquitted in a retrail in 2009.
