Questions over PNG govt use of money for marine venture

16:03 pm on 29 March 2019

Papua New Guinea's government is expected to finalise a major Chinese loan next month to kickstart the Pacific Marine Industrial Zone project in Madang.

Planned as PNG's first Special Economic Zone project, the PMIZ has been through various incarnations as a planned venture for almost two decades without ever getting off the ground.

The minister of commerce and industry, Wera Mori, spoke about the project with Johnny Blades who asked about the government's plans to draw down a $US168million Chinese Exim Bank loan.
