Police in Canterbury have arrested a man in relation to the death of Christchurch boy Leon Michael leFleming Jayet-Cole.
The five-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries last Wednesday afternoon and died on Friday morning.
The police have arrested a 34-year-old man, who will appear in the Christchurch District Court tomorrow charged with murder.
Detective Scott Anderson said that, for legal reasons, they could not confirm the identity of the man but said he was known to the boy.
Mr Anderson said an investigation would continue to focus on the events that led to the boy sustaining the head injuries.
