Pioneering Pacific Islands newspaper publisher, Father John Lamani, has died in Solomon Islands.
The Anglican priest was the owner of the Solomon Star newspaper, a radio station and a printing business.
PACNEWS reports that in 2001 Father Lamani and his wife Cathy were given the Pacific Islands' News Association's Media Freedom Award, recognising their bravery and their leadership of the Solomon Islands media during the ethnic tensions.
