Housing Minister Megan Woods opened a 167-unit apartment in Glen Eden and 83 transitional homes in Ōtahuhu which she said was part of the government's committment to warm, dry homes.

In Glen Eden, three different types of housing have been delivered in the Westlight apartment complex.

That is made up of 90 two- and four-bedroom public housing units, 34 one-bedroom and two-bedroom KiwiBuild homes and 43 private apartments.

The Westlight complex will house singles, couples and small family units and has a Homestar 6 energy efficiency rating, Woods said.

The Ted Mason Foundation provided the capital to build the apartments and partnered with Community Housing Provider, Compass Housing.

The contract is a 25 year lease by Tūāpapa Kura Kāinga - the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, leased directly from Ted Mason, with a right of renewal after 25 years.

A further 83 one-bedroom and two-bedroom new builds, split across two buildings on Atkinson Avenue in Ōtahuhu, were opened today as part of the commitment to building more transitional homes under the Aotearoa New Zealand Homelessness Action Plan (HAP).
