Last year's 10-percent growth in arrivals is being attributed to the launch of new services to Tahiti by two carriers, French Blue and United.

Hawaiian Airlines also added flights.

More than half the passengers at Tahiti's airport fly Air Tahiti Nui, with Air France and Air New Zealand trailing in second and third place.

The airport company ADT says last year it processed more than two million passengers at its four airports in Tahiti, Bora Bora, Raiatea and Rangiroa.
