3 new Covid-19 cases in CNMI

Three new people have tested positive for the coronavirus in the CNMI, in one of the largest increases in the territory 's Covid-19 cases since the pandemic began.

A 39-year-old woman tested positive through the community-based testing at Saipan airport and it remains unknown how she contracted the virus.

Contact tracing teams are looking into the possibility of exposure through community spread of Covid-19.

A 56 year-old woman and a 15 year-old female also tested positive for the coronavirus. Both were passengers on the United Airlines flight from Guam on 30 May that originated from the U.S. mainland.

All three new cases are asymptomatic and are being monitored in isolation at the Kanoa Resort Alternative Care Site.

The CNMI now has a total of 26 cases of Covid-19, including six active cases, 16 recoveries, and two deaths, since 28 March.

The Governor's Covid-19 Task Force and Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation have assured the public that the CNMI Community Vulnerability Level remains at Yellow because of the greater number of negative results among an increasing number of residents being tested.

A total of 6,695 people have undergone community-based testing on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota.
