New Zealand golfer Ryan Fox is tied for the lead in the British Masters on the DP World Tour.

Fox shot a six under par 66 at The Belfry to be in a share of the lead with Thorbjørn Olesen after round one.

The 35 year old made seven birdies and one bogey in the round, as he looks to win for the second time in four starts.

"Yeah I'm really happy. Hit a lot of wedge shots close and took advantage of the hard holes, making a couple of 40 footers to keep the round going, " Fox said.

The world number 113 won the Ras al Khaimah Classic in February, his second win on the DP World Tour (formerly known as the European Tour).

Eight weeks off at home following the win have done nothing to deter Fox's form, with two top 15 finishes in Spain

"I changed a lot of nappies" laughed Fox.

"And a fair amount of social golf with my mates, a little bit of fishing, plenty of babysitting."

"Everything felt pretty good coming over here, I have done some good work the last couple of weeks and everything has clicked into place."

"I'm trying to think as little as possible, which is always a nice place to be."
