Indonesia's National Development Planning Minister has called on the multi-national miner Freeport to increase its procurement of goods and services from local sources.
The Antara news agency reports Sofyan Djalil as saying while Freeport's local sourcing from state-owned enterprises and other domestic sources is already at more than 60 percent, there is still room for more.
Mr Djalil heads the Natural Resources Management Team for Papua province where Freeport runs a huge network of gold and copper mining operations.
He also called on Freeport to increase its cooperation with local businesspeople in Papua.
