Christchurch Earthquake

'Keep Out' notices to be posted in Kaiapoi

05:49 am on 29 April 2012

Concern about petty crime in Kaiapoi has led to the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority saying it will put up signs warning people to stay away from properties owned by the Crown in the red zone there.

A four-week trial of signs saying Prohibited Access will begin soon.

The signs will cover about 120 properties in north-eastern Kaiapoi, including parts of Charles, Jones, Jollie, Sewell and Beswick streets.

The authority and the police will decide after a month whether warning signs should also be put up near all Crown properties in residential red zones in Christchurch.
