New Zealand's Liam Lawson has been linked with a Formula One drive this weekend.

Autosport is reporting that Williams is considering replacing Logan Sargeant at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza this weekend following another big crash for the American at the Dutch Grand Prix.

Mick Schumacher and Lawson have emerged as the leading contenders if they decide to drop Sargeant.

Lawson is a Red Bull reserve driver but principal Christian Horner is open to a possible deal with Williams.

It would be just for the remainder of this season with Lawson then potentially going into a Red Bull or RB car in 2025.

A deal would also mean that Lawson would be available for one of the Red Bull seats this year if needed.

"It would depend on which terms and if we needed him back that we could have him back quite quickly," Horner said, according to Aurosport.

"But certainly, if they needed a driver next weekend [at Monza], we'd be open to that. But that's a Williams question rather than one for us to answer."

Lawson has competed in five F1 races, replacing an injured Daniel Ricciardo in Alpha Tauri in 2023.

Sargeant is yet to confirm a drive for next season with Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz the signed drivers.
