For many exporters, a new deal with the United Kingdom couldn't come at a better time.

New Zealand has agreed in principle to the UK's second free trade deal since Brexit.

The agreement will eventually eliminate tariffs on all New Zealand exports to the country.

It's also a shot in the arm for the country's efforts to diversify its trade portfolio.

ExportNZ executive director Catherine Beard spoke to Corin Dann.
