Rio 2016 Olympics - New Zealand sailors Peter Burling and Blair Tuke have started their Olympic campaign in the best possible way, winning their first two races.
The pair sit in the top spot of the men's 49er ladder with a perfect score after the first day, winning their first race by 25 seconds and their second by 42 seconds.
While light winds delayed some sailing today and forced some races to be postponed, Blair Tuke said they didn't let it get to them.
"We've been watching all the other classes race now for a few days so we were really keen to get into it this morning, and we had to wait just a little bit longer but that was okay," Tuke said.
Peter Burling said they're happy with the good start
"We're really happy to get a couple of low scores on the board and not walk away with anything big and just to get into the series," he said.
"We've been waiting a long time to get racing, and we've been really enjoying ourselves out there and I think that showed today."
Elsewhere on the water, Alex Maloney and Molly Meech got their Rio Games underway with two solid results in the women's 49erFX event.
They ended the day in 6th overall after placing 5th and 6th in their two races.
Meech's older brother Sam placed 13th in his first race in the men's Laser today, and backed it up with a 6th placed finish in his second to remain 6th overall in the standings.
He has two races to go before the medal race.
But it wasn't such a great day for Jo Aleh and Polly Powrie in the women's 470, who finished 12th in their only race to drop from the lead to 6th in the overall standings.
