A man has been arrested after a person was injured in a firearms incident in the Waikato town of Paeroa on Monday morning.

Officers were called to a property near the intersection of Corbett Street and Albert Street just before 11am.

A person suffered minor injuries and these appeared to be due to a gunshot wound, police said.

A 33-year-old man is due to appear in the Hamilton District Court on Tuesday.

The police are appealing for information from anyone who saw a silver Subaru Impreza hatchback, carrying wood in its boot, around Paeroa this morning.
