Massey University lecturer Mike Joy has joined a team to advise Landcorp on sustainable agricultural strategies, saying he is keen to find solutions to the environmental issues he has highlighted.
Landcorp has brought together some of the country's staunchest environmental advocates to advise it on putting environmental best practice first across all of Landcorp's operations.
Dr Joy said he was excited to be part of the Environmental Reference Group.
"I'm sick of fighting and pushing people into corners or getting pushed into a corner and I really want to be part of the solution," he said.
"I'm pretty despairing about what's coming out of central and local government by way of protecting the environment and I've said for a long time it should be industry leading the way so I see this opportunity for Landcorp to lead the way in sustainable farming and it's a fantastic opportunity to be involved in it."
