ACC to spend $30m on preventing falls

12:50 pm on 12 July 2016

ACC will invest more than $30 million into helping older people prevent falls.

Minister for ACC Nikki Kaye said the money would be spent over four years to maintain existing programmes and support new services.

Ms Kaye said the number of people over 65 would double in less than 20 years to around 1.2 million people.

She said she expected funding targetted at the elderly to increase.

Ms Kaye said the investment would support programmes such as muscle strengthening and safety assessments in the home.
