The New Zealand cyclist Aaron Gate has sprinted his way to victory on a wet and windy fifth stage on Tour of Ireland.
Riding for the An Post Chain Reaction team, the Auckland rider attacked with two other riders in the closing moments of the 142km stage to Ballina in the north west of Ireland.
The win moved Gate up to fifth overall and the leader in the points race jersey with three stages remaining.
Tomorrow's sixth stage is the longest of 160km moving inland to Ballinamore.
Several members of the Cycling New Zealand track squad who are competing in road race as part of their preparation for the summer track season back in New Zealand.
