The World of Wearable Art event is to be held in Wellington for the next nine years. A contract has been signed with Wellington City Council.
Mayor Celia Wade-Brown said the agreement will ensure the city will remain the show's home until 2022.
Ms Wade-Brown said this year's show brought $15.1 million into Wellington's economy and gave jobs to 400 people.
The show will be funded out from a major events fund of $1.8 million, which also pays for events like the IRB Rugby Sevens.
